IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME

Hey friends of www.AYPmagazine.com , I know I've left you hangin' for awhile, sorry. The silver lining is, the reason I haven't been blogging lately is because AYP Magazine is progressing quite nicely.

There are so many things going on with AYP, so before I forget, please check us out on Twitter (@aypmagazine), facebook (AYP Mag), and myspace (myspace.com/aypmagazine). I'd also like to announce that we are working on some things with 2nd Floor Basement radio (http://www.krykey.com/Radio/PRSPage.aspx?id=133), providing the finest in Hip Hop from yesterday to today. Big up to my man Desmond, we're making moves!

I wanna say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to friend of AYP Magazine, MindsOne's KONsciene! Look for the new MindsOne mixtape dropping shortly.

Respect to BONE THUGS N HARMONY on there debut at #14 on the Billboard 200 with their new cd, UNI5: The World's Enemy. The cd is definately worth your time, and while you're at it, check out AYPmagazine.com 's interview with LAYZIE, FLESH, WISH, and KRAYZIE conducted last month. Where was BIZZY you ask, watch the interview and hear what the BONE crew has to say about that.

If you haven't seen the site lately, you need to get there! In recent weeks we have added video interviews with Holy Hip Hop artist/producer/promoter FLAGZ DA BAD BOY (with freestyle), Reggae performer TONY DREAD (with live footage), Rec League and Brown Co emcee/Muppet enthusiast HAJI P (with freestyle). We'va also added interviews with Young Jeezy's protege, controversial CTE rapper WHITE (courtesy of @SHAMfreakinWOW, with his three music videos), emcee on the come-up, SCOTTIE FLIPPEN (with live footage and AYP MAGAZINE FREE THROWS).

Artists, if you have something worth checking out, feel free to contact us at AYPmagazine@gmail.com, or through our Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace accounts. We are more than happy to talk to anybody of any genre, but please be professional. If you perform covers on the local street corner and don't have any product, good luck, but come back when you are ready for bigger things. New artists are welcome, but please be serious about your craft. We are interested in posting your professionally shot videos as well. If you want it out there, hit us up!

AYP Magazine is also interested in contributors. If you are a writer or reviewer, or you feel you have something to offer, contact us.

Thanks again to all of our friends and family. We are looking forward to a great summer. Please support AYP Magazine by telling your friends, post it on your Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter accounts. Also, if you are interested, we have added a "Donations" button to the bottom of the home page. We have managed to stay advertisement free for this long, but the cost of running the site is causing us to look for revenue sources. If you feel so inclined, please feel free to support AYP Magazine financially.

Until next time, if you cannot be good, be careful in all that you do.

Respect,

Another great weekend! Yeah, I know, it's like a broken record, but if ever a broken record could be good, this one is awesome!

Friday night, I enjoyed dinner at Jamaica's COmfort Zone here in Wilmington, NC while being treated to the sounds of SAI COLLINS. Sai is extremely talented and always puts his heart and soul on display when performing.

Last night, it was onto 16 Taps in downtown Wilmington for the weekly Reggae show promoted by REGGAE INTERNATIONAL. This week, the downtown massive was treated to the RAS BONGHI REGGAE ALL STARS out of Charleston, SC. The show was tight with plenty of rockaz being played.

It was great seeing so many people this weekend. Several loose commitments have been made, so Reggae heads, stay tuned to www.AYPmagazine.com !

And get this, the www.AYPmagazine.com stickers are in! If you are interested, please let me know and we will hook you up! Special thanks to CHOICES at www.choicesdcp.com .

Until next time, if you cannot be good be careful in whatever you do.

MindsOne, Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears, Cedric Burnside & Lightnin' Malcolm, Leslie

Okay, the site is up and functional, looking pretty good. I'm still tightening things up, and if you've seen it recently, it is almost where it needs to be.

I had some awesome experiences over the last week or so in regards to the mag. The Bruce Kulick video feature jumpstarted things and got a lot of internet media attention for AYPmagazine.com . To those sites that covered it, I have not forgotten and will certainly link to you VERY soon.

KONscience of underground hip hop fam MindsOne allowed me to visit the lab. KON kicked a few verses and granted AYP Magazine an impromtu interview where we discussed the MindsOne crew, the new album (due this summer), influences, and dream collaborations. You can check for it at www.youtube.com/user/AYPmagazine or www.AYPmagazine.com . This week should allow me to hook up with the entire MindsOne crew, so stay tuned for more.

Sunday night I had the opportunity to link up with Black Joe Lewis in Wilmington, NC at The Soapbox as he and The Honeybears continue their east coast tour with Cedric Burnside and Lightnin' Malcolm. Joe was extremely polite yet very reserved one-on-one but let it all go in front of the audience. Unfortunately the video footage didn't come out so good, but I am working on a piece for the site which include all the essential quotes from our interview. A great showman with tons of talent. The world needs to wake up.

What can I say about Cedric Burnside and Lightnin' Malcolm? Both are true southern gentlemen, as is Cedric's brother Cody who performed a few songs as well. Lightnin' was tending to other business, but we were able to capture Cedric on camera for a brief interview. Look for it on www.AYPmagazine.com very soon.

Show openers, Leslie from Charleston, SC impressed me as well. Their bluesy rock sounded great, and I definately look forward to their new cd.

Keep checking www.AYPmagazine.com for constant interviews, articles, and reviews. Sign up for the message board and start a discussion. It's all there, and it's free! Original artists, feel free to contact me with your Electronic Press Kits. Until next time.....

What a weekend!

Sorry so late, as I try to blog about once a week, usually around the weekend, but I've been just too busy lately. Besides working a more than full-time job and trying to get this web magazine going, I managed to sneak in a little getaway last weekend. True to form though, it did involve the mag, so I must admit, there was some degree of work involved, but I loved every minute of it!

The Kiss Coffeehouse, www.kisscoffeehouse.com , hosted an album release party for former KISS/UNION guitarist BRUCE KULICK's new cd, BK3. Thanks to Kymm at 60 Cycle Media, I was able to get a tremendous interview with Bruce on video. He was such a gentleman and very candid. We discussed BK3 and the many guests on the release (Gene Simmons, Nick Simmons, Eric Singer, John Corabi, Doug Fieger, Tobias Sammett, and Steve Lukather), being a guest on an upcoming episode of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels", the Kiss Unplugged experience, make-up vs non-make-up, and much more. Bruce was awesome, I can't wait to share the video with you all.

The crew at the Kiss Coffeehouse was terrific! Catering to the little boy living in my heart, I had to journey over to Broadway at the Beach and check the shop out as soon as I got to town. Even a rough 9 1/2 hour night at work, with no sleep before travelling couldn't stop me from getting to the weekend's Mecca. It was great hanging out there pretty much every day and talking to the crew. I learned so much talking and chatting about the shop and Kiss's involvement. Hopefully they will allow me back to get some video of the shop and get them on camera as well. Awesome!

I do want to apologize to SELAH DUBB, as they had a big event honoring Robert Nesta Marley's birthday, but more importantly, raising money for earthquake torn Haiti while I was out of town. Check out this awesome reggae trio at www.myspace.com/selah.dubb . They work hard and definately deserve your time.

This weekend is wide open. I was hoping to link up and build with Kon from MindsOne, but he seems just as busy as I am these days. The site should have some content added very soon (like hopefully this weekend). There is also another very big video interview brewing for next weekend. I don't wanna jinx anything, but I am very excited.

Building with Konscience, kickin' it with BOB

Wow, another great weekend as this thing called AYP Magazine keeps growing. I had the great pleasure of getting together with Konscience from Wilmington, NC emcee duo MindsOne Thursday night. This brother is a true blessing and has a warrior's heart. He is extremely passionate about his trade. Look out for some special things to come from the combination of AYP Magazine and MindsOne. Also, MindsOne is on the verge of bigger things as they prepare for their new cd to drop later this year with several underground hip hop notables appearing. If you haven't checked their first cd, "Transitions" yet, go to www.myspace.com/mindsone .

Last night I journeyed to Hooligans in Jacksonville, NC to see the really hard, aggressive, yet all around fun band known as BOB from Washington, DC. The guys were as cool as ever as they prepare for their new release coming in April. If you are not familiar, check them out at www.bobband.com , and while you're there, download the song "Bump In the Road" for free. They are true road warriors and they always have time for their fans and friends. Look for a video interview with BOB at www.aypmagazine.com very soon.

All in all, it's been another tremendous weekend. Special thanks to KONSCIENCE and the BOB crew (Drew, Carl, Adam, Matt, Curtis, and Estrada). Next weekend, off to Myrtle Beach for the BRUCE KULICK cd release party at the Kiss Coffeehouse. That should be amazing!

A fun night of reggae

I just want to thank SELAH DUBB for having me at 16 Taps for a great show. They really rocked it tonight and were extremely cool. Look forward to seeing SELAH DUBB featured on the site very soon.

SAI COLLINS really blew me away as well! Such a talented young man, and beyond that, such a talented trio. To be able to combine so many musical styles and produce such a sweet sound is a true gift to anyone who ever has the pleasure of seeing Sei perform.

I also got to stop over at Hell's Kitchen to see JAH CREATION. Despite a sparse crowd, they supplied some great rockers. Reggae ruled the night on Princess Street tonight.

Just wanna send nuff raspect to all those who were friendly and cordial tonight, people like SELAH DUBB, SAI COLLINS, JAH CREATION, TIMI IRIE, and definately keyboardist extraordinaire, Carl. I look forward to dealings with all of these artists in the very near future.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Haiti as they the country tries to recover from the massive 7.0 earthquake this week. It seems as if over 100,000 human beings are estimated as dying. If you'd like to help, please visit www.yele.com for more info.
